Social media platforms 'should be used' for IT marketing via email

The reach of IT marketing through email can be extended if firms make the most of social media platforms, it has been suggested.
According to Jon Maddison, UK country director at Epsilon, social media networking sites are useful for IT marketing as users place a lot of trust in them.
A recent report by GetResponse has revealed that click-through rates (CTRs) on emails with a social sharing option are 30 per cent higher than emails without the link.
Mr Maddison said one of the main advantages of social media sites was that they are "very trusted".
This means the medium is a "fantastic way" of making existing companies aware of special offers and also acquiring new customers, he said.
"There's no disconnect" between emails and social media, which allows a seamless experience for users, explained Mr Maddison.
This is useful information for those working in IT sales and marketing to heed, as it will allow companies to expand and further develop their IT marketing techniques.
