Cloud computing security requires a shift in approach

IT security professionals need to approach the IT security problem differently as cloud computing increases in popularity, it has been claimed.
According to IT analyst Trend Micro, the marketplace is set to undergo significant changes during the next economic cycle and firms that offer IT security and data security service need to adapt.
Senior vice-president of the organisation, John Maddison, told V3.co.uk that as software as a service takes off, IT security professionals will have to incorporate it into their strategies.
Maddison claimed that hybrid systems that included both external and internal security layers will increase the complexity of network security issues and IT professionals need to be ready for this.
He claimed that new security solutions must "meet the management, control and privacy needs of businesses and service providers all over the world".
Earlier this month, Robert Stroud, the international vice president of Isaca, claimed that firms should also be wary of the security threat that social networking poses to companies' IT security.
