The number of jobs available in IT sales and marketing is rising in the UK, new data has shown.

In 2010, the number of IT marketing jobs on offer has increased in four out of the five first months of the year, according to figures from the Ashdown Group Job Index.

The UK economy is recovering from the economic downturn and firms are looking to invest in IT marketing in order to improve their chances of competing against rival companies.

There was a 6.9 per cent rise in the number of IT marketing jobs advertised in May compared with in April 2010.

Director of the Ashdown Group, John Lynes, said: "The marketing sector has remained buoyant with continued growth in hiring activity.

"There were more jobs advertised in marketing during May 2010 than at any time since June 2009."

Many firms have been introducing social media into their IT marketing mix recently because it is easy to monitor the impact of the channels, according to Tania Jackson, managing director at marketing consultancy Red Idea.
