Social media 'big IT marketing hit'

Many firms choose to include social media in their IT marketing mix because it has an easy-to-monitor impact, it has been claimed.
Tania Jackson, managing director at marketing consultancy Red Idea, said: "Social media is the big hit at the moment and most people are looking at how they can integrate it into their existing marketing strategy."
Companies are looking towards social media because it is "immediate, it's successful and measurable", she added.
Recently, Warwick Business School released a report that identified marketing as a key factor in the success of a small business.
Companies which adopt marketing strategies, along with five other key ingredients, are more likely to be profitable and in a better position to safeguard their business.
The report showed that, on average, only 20 per cent of businesses are using IT marketing tools such as broadcast media advertising, suggesting that they are using other marketing methods instead.
