Symantec 'improves security' for small firms

Symantec has launched a new offering for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) which provides enhanced information security protection against internal and external threats, as well as new business continuity features.

The program should also be easier to manage too, meaning firms can improve their information security without encountering too many complications.

Symantec Protection Suite Advanced Business Edition will be available later this year and it will include real-time security intelligence from the cloud-based Symantec Global Intelligence Network.

This means network security can be enhanced as the system will provide early threat warnings as well as completely automatic backups to protect against all kinds of threats.

The backup and recovery system also means SMBs can easily and quickly recover files and folders if a system failure were to occur.

"SMBs today are handling valuable information and having the right information at the right time can mean the difference between success and going out of business," said Francis deSouza, senior vice president at Symantec, which helps consumers and organisations secure and manage their data and information.

"Today's SMBs need complete protection that can be easily deployed and managed while providing the highest level of protection."
